Pan Grilled Cod

Decided to pan grill the other half of the cod. Another fast simple meal.

Had to cut the fillet in half because the only non-stick pan in my kitchen is a small one.

Marinated the cod fillet lightly with curry powder, salt and pepper.

I somehow recall reading/watching some cooking guide somewhere that the best way to pan grill fishes like cod and salmon is to spread the oil on the fish itself, and none in the pan. Not sure how true it is, but I seemed to turn out pretty good. Meat side first...

... then the skin side. If I remember correctly, the guide mentioned something about flipping it ONLY ONCE.

While the fish was grilling on the pan, I prepared a quick sauce with milk, butter, and some pre-mixed instant sauce.

The vege in the pic is fresh kale. Also employed express cooking methods. Just put them in a bowl, added a little water, some salt and pepper, covered with a plate, and cooked it in the microwave for 4 minutes. Instant steamed vege :)

Pan Grilled Cod.

I wish we can get cod cheaply here as I like it's taste! It's so blardy expensive so enjoy it when you can. Also read the food mags, they are discouraging people from eating cod as it's been overfished.

Mind to teach me how to do the quick sauce ? SO that i can pour it over my cheap dory fish. Ooo about the AH DI BKT..DO u still remember that there were a zink roofted place beside the main road? There used to have a mian fen gao stall, yao zha guai stall, dai chao stall, AH DI BKT is just beside that place..However due to some developments the place was brought down and all the stalls are moving to somewhere else..Same as Ah Di BKT

The sauce I play cheating wan. Used this: http://www.schwartz.co.uk/productdetail.cfm?id=5045

If I were to make my own, I would try one of these simple ones:
* lemon sauce
* creamy lemon sauce
* cucumber sauce
* orange sauce

.. of course, can modify here and there to suit your taste and what's available lah.

Ooohhh.. that shop is called Ah Di ah?? hehe.. paiseh. We just called it the BKT stall :p

(unless i'm thinking of a diff place. Behind the yau cha guai stall is a motorbike workshop rite? The tau keh soh - quite young and decent looking - always sitting at the entrance doing nothing wan)

btw, the uncle selling Yau Cha Guai (wife got peculiarly big hips wan) is a really nice guy. Speaks good english, and remembers faces well. I went back 2-3 years after, and he still remembered us.

The mee shop beside has GREAT food, but the old aunty that jaga damn fierce. She always gets your order wrong, but don't you dare tell her that. Just shut up, eat, and enjoy. heheh..
